FAQ
-
What is myDigiDistro?
-
myDigiDistro is web software you can use to securely distribute digital media (Mp3s, eBooks, Videos, etc) on the web.
-
Who should use myDigiDistro?
-
myDigiDistro is currently geared towards musicians, bands, and labels
that want to provide digital downloads to their fans / customers (but there are likely many other uses).
It's particularly useful to anyone who wants to provide a
digital copy of their music along with some other merch that they sell
(for example: vinyl, shirts, tapes, tote bags!).
-
How much does it cost?
-
Nothing. myDigiDistro is distributed under the AGPLv3 open source license.
We do however provide a litany of services that are not so free.
-
Is this just another CMS?
-
Most definitely not. myDigiDistro was created to serve a very specific niche
and is not an attempt at providing a full fledge content management system. In fact,
it's been designed to integrate well into your current site / CMS.
-
What features / functionality are included in myDigiDistro?
-
A full list of the features can be found on our about page.
-
Where can I get more technical information?
-
Technical information can be found on our about page.
-
Can I try it out first?
-
Yes, there is a full demo of the current release available on this site!
-
How is myDigiDistro related to digidl.com?
-
digidl.com is one of the many services provided by the mDD team. It is simply a hosted copy
of mDD available for bands / labels / etc that don't have the resources to install mDD themselves.
-
Can I distribute stuff besides music?
-
Yes! Well, not yet. In the near future we'd like
to add digital media distribution of all types. eBooks,
PDFs, Videos... you name it! If you have something specific
in mind, let us know and maybe we can put the feature on the
development fast track.
-
Who wrote / maintains myDigiDistro?
-
myDigiDistro and digidl.com were created by Vergeworks, a small web
design and development firm based in Seattle, WA. The vast majority of the
code was written by Vergeworks owner / web development guru Seth Syberg.
